CANADA - Payroll NV1 DOS users
Filing Information Returns Electronically T4.
Starting in January 2010, if you file more than 50 information slips, you must file your
return electronically by Internet File Transfer (XML) in eXtensible Mark up Language (XML).
See the canada.gc.ca notice here.
DOS NewViews does not support XML, so if you have to print more than 50 T4s, now is a good time to think about
upgrading to NV2.
NewViews 2 for Windows has Internet File Transfer XML built-in.
NV2 has been able to file electronically since February 2008. Please contact our offices for upgrade information.
NV1 U.S. Payroll Information (2010) Update - January 1, 2010
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
For this payroll update, you must be running the most current version of the NewViews (DOS) program (Version 1.41b -
Procedure Library Version 12). To check the version you have, do the following:
- Open any set of NewViews books
- Run the Procedure SUPPORT (/Go RunProc, select SUPPORT)
- About 1/2 way down the information screen, look for "Procedure Library Version".
The version number will be shown on the far right side of the page. - If the version is any number less than 12, you will need to order the version 12 update.

A payroll update for July 1, 2010 is required.
Payroll updates will be available on diskette, CD or via download by Monday June 21, 2010.
Users who have a NewViews Payroll Update Plan that expires on a date later than July 1, 2010 will receive the update automatically.
UNITED STATES - Arizona Only
A payroll update for July 1, 2010 is required.
